I am planning a trip in October, trying to decide between Bison Ranch or Pinetop. Can anyone tell me what kind of weather to expect at each? And if you have been to both resorts, which do you suggest?

We just stopped by Bison Ranch to check it out yesterday on our way home from Mesa. I was told that the rooms over the shops are noisier but all shops must close by 9:30 PM. I was also told that the Bison are no longer there. I didn't see any. It is a nice quiet place. They only have one 1 bedroom. All the rest are 2 bedrooms and they are 1100 sq. ft. All rooms have flat screen TVs & A/C.

The Wallow fire is much closer to Pinetop than to Bison Ranch. Heber-Overgaard is a good hour away from that fire. As of 6/27/11 it was 89% contained.

The Wash fire is about 8 miles northeast of Heber up highway 277 near the intersection of highway 377. It's a grassy area with scattered shrubs here and there. As of 6/27/11 8:00PM it was 95% contained.

I was wondering about the fire too. I posted on the other WM4m and found out it is burning in a different direction from Bison Ranch and Pinetop. Thank Goodness! It does sound like it is fairly close, but NW and heading NE of Overgaard AZ.

We are planning a trip to Bison Ranch in July. Wondering if the condos above the shops are far away from the pool, etc, or are noisey, or smell like restaurant food all the time. We stayed at a French bed and breakfast once and smelled garlic all night!
Also, how close is the fire this year, 2011?
