Have you stayed at Kapaa Shores? Here's your chance to tell other owners what it's really like. How big is the pool? How hot is the hot tub? What do you wish you had known before your left home?

We have just returned from Kapaa Shores. We had a two bedroom unit, which is on the third floor. Unfortunately the building does not have elevators. The building is old, and our unit had a run down look and feel about it. Our dishwasher door had a broken spring, so if you were not careful, it would fall hard and could cause injury, so you have to support it on the way down. This appliance was old and rusty, and needs to be replaced. This unit probably should be renovated. The lack of air conditioning is not a problem, as the 'through ventilation' works very well, if the windows and front door are open.
The pool and hot tub are fine. There is a bank of BBQs near the tub. The place is well maintained. We had a problem with our garburator which was dealt with immediately, and very efficiently. The staff are all very good, helpful and friendly.
Kapaa is an ideal area to be staying. There are many great beaches nearby. Make sure you consult with the lifeguards at each beach to find out where it is safe to go in the ocean, and there are varying currents and undertows which have to be taken into account.

We have been to this resort 10 times over the past 15 years. It's an older resort. There are no elevators and no AC. And if you want a 2 bdrm unit, They're all on the 3rd floor. It's ocean front, with great sunrise views, but no beach, just rocks. The lack of AC has rarely been an issue. Just open the doors and let the trade winds cool the unit. Safeway, as well as many restaurants are a short walk away. The resort's location is the middle of the east side of the island, so well positioned for exploring the island. Too many plus's about Kauai to list, and the only major minus is traffic can get really slow. But it's Kauai, so plan your time accordingly, no need to rush. We're going back again for 2 weeks in May, 2020!

We were at this beautiful resort from February 14 to February 23, 2019. This location is perfect for the island in between all of the great places to visit and explore! We aren’t really thrilled with townhouse style units but this one was better than we anticipated. Although the room upstairs is partially open to downstairs, it is private visually. The temperatures were perfect so the room was not uncomfortable without air-conditioning. The units have windows, fans, screen doors… That are heavy and secure… That you can leave open even during the rain in many areas of the unit and get good circulation of air. The resort also has a small area where they keep beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas and beach items that other owners have left after use. We found this very helpful! The resort also has a power spray off stand in the area near the pool where you can rinse off muddy shoes after hiking which was also very helpful!
Lots of great restaurants in the area. Our favorite shaved ice was at He Fats in Kappa. The southern part of the island has the best beaches and most sunshine and we enjoyed it a lot!
Kaua’i is beautiful but it is very wet so come prepared with raincoats and if you are going to do hiking bring shoes that you don’t mind getting ruined!
We highly recommend flying the helicopter tour. 2/3 of the island can only be viewed from the air unless you plan to hike 11 to 25 miles over moderate to strenuous trails filled with sloppy mud!
Even though the dirt road is very rough with lots of potholes we recommend Barking Sands Beach as one of the best beaches and most isolated!
Hope we will be able to return again!

My husband and I just returned from this WM. The location, in our opinion, was perfect. We stayed in a ground floor unit with just steps to the grassy area and right up against the ocean. The staff were very helpful and accomodating. There is a nice size pool and hot tub as well. There are also barbeques (about 6 - 8 of them) with lighting. It is a very popular way of cooking dinner.

The units themselves are older but clean and have everything you need. No need for A/C at all. The trade winds bring a nice breeze if you leave the slider and the front door open. There is a lock on the screens of both.

The town of Kapaa is much less "touristy" than we experienced on other islands. Yes there are t-shirt shops but there is also quite a bit of locally made items and great "family" restaurants. Go to Ono Family Restaurant for breakfast. Have their tropical pancakes with hot coconut syrup or guava jam. Yummie!! It is an easy walk to town and there is a path that starts right next to the resort that goes along the ocean.

Don't miss one of the many farmer's markets for produce and fruit. The front desk will give you a list of them. We recommend the Saturday market at the junior college in Lihue. There is also a Safeway within walking distance for ancillary items.

A hidden secret is the Hindu monastery. Don't miss that one. The only word of caution is that the currents are strong so be sure that you go to a beach that has a lifeguard if you plan to swim in the ocean. The beachfront at the WM has a great deal of corral so we don't recommend going in there.

Have fun-----we did!

For those who have already visited Kapaa Shores, would 3 adult couples be too crowded in the 2 bedroom unit? Is there room in the main floor bedroom for their clothes and belongings? Has anyone slept on the sofa bed? Thank you.

We will be visiting next week. Does anyone know if there are any discounts for helicopter tours offered by the concierge desk? Without an owner update. If you know what company they use thats a bonus.

We spent one week at Kapaa Shore, the last of September 2017, we LOVED IT! We will definitely be going back to this property. We were on the 2nd level #225, and our unit looked exactly like the photos show, with every detail. The unit was spotless and very enjoyable! There is no A/C and we were concerned about that but there was a nice breeze and 2 additional fans in the unit. The Pool was perfect, and very enjoyable for a morning and evening swim and the hot tub was just great as well. Each morning we enjoyed the lounge chairs set up to watch the sunrise, that was an incredible view to behold especially while listening to the waves coming to shore just a few feet away. This trip was a DREAM! The Staff was friendly and there was absolutely nothing I would have changed about our trip. The grounds were BEAUTIFUL and well kept, the little Gecko's on the property were fascinating to watch and the assortment of birds and butterfly's were amazing! We made a stop at Costco near the Lihue Airport and got some fruit and water, and Safeway is a block from the property. We enjoyed the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour and the Smith Family Laua and program while we were there, in addition to visiting the numerous beaches and waterfalls in the area. The Lighthouse was worth seeing and watching the large turtles swim in the waters below as well as the Spouting Horn in Poipu. We loved visiting Anini Beach several times, parking was easy, the beach was close to the road and the water was warm. It was breathtaking gorgeous at every turn on this Island, easy to maneuver and hardly any traffic... We were told to be sure to visit Glass Beach and the Chocolate Fudge from the Chocolate shop by Glass Beach was definitely worth the stop!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Worldmark for such a WONDERFUL Property! I cant hardly wait to go back.

We went there end of July-beginning of August 2017. Resort is nice, right on the ocean. Every room as an ocean view. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. We arrived and I guess they had just ran the dishwasher as it was miserable in the room and never really recovered. That is the biggest drawback of this resort. We knew ahead of time but figured, so it's a little hot? It was miserable. 85-90 degrees and 80-85% humidity. Laying in bed sweating and trying to fall asleep. They have ceiling fans and a few other fans in the unit which help but not enough in my opinion. It's like that all over the island so it's not like Worldmark is holding out. If you are heat sensitive, and if you are you know what I mean, this may not be the resort for you. We will not be going back just for this reason. No AC in restaurants or anywhere else that we found besides grocery stores. There is usually a breeze(warm)blowing in which is great but it stopped one night for about an hour and WOW was it hot. Our dishwasher went out on day 1 and they did not fix it while we there which was a drag having dirty dishes every day. 2 different times we arranged to be out of out unit early so they could do it and when we came back they hadn't done it but they had been in our unit and shut off all of the fans leaving the unit miserable for the rest of the day. Very disappointed in the staff for that. Otherwise the staff is great. Best part of the resort is NO SALES PITCH!
The island itself is green and beautiful. There are river activities like tours and kayaking. Lots of hikes. There is a tubing adventure where you float on a tube down the man made canals that used to water the fields. It's laid back and fun. ZIP Lining, dinner cruises and snorkeling. There was no SNUBA that I could find so if that is something you like I don't believe you will find it.
Lots of good dining within walking distance. Olympic Café is casual with very good food.
Just a laid back place to go. Small pool with zero shade. Hot tub which you really can't use unless you like it real hot. You have to drive to get to swimmable ocean as the ocean at the resort is off limits. Very rocky and rough. Beaches are great but you need to get there early if your going to the popular ones on the North of the island as there is extremely limited parking. We went mid morning to Tunnels beach and Haena beach park and couldn't park anywhere and had to come back down to one of the other beaches. Tunnels beach has the best snorkeling so you want to get up early if that is where you are going.

We stayed at Kapaa Shores about a year ago. Great location. Grocery store/Safeway about 1 block away. In the strip mall part of the Safeway there is an ice cream place serving Tropical Dreams Ice cream, it is the best ice cream ever and makes for a nice evening stroll. It is made on the Big Island. Units are good, there is no air conditioning, but did not bother us too much. Some of the units have a direct ocean view, we were blessed to have one. No elevators. We enjoyed our stay and are going back next year.

Does anyone have any current reviews of Kapaa shores ?
Checking to see if anyone knows how many units there are in total, whether they are studios and 1 bedrooms and whether they face the ocean.
Also how far from the ocean is the resort ?

At Kapa'a Shores 11/18 to 11/25/ 2015. Very big storm came through for days with 95% humidity and 85 degrees by day/75 degrees coolest at night. Cannot sleep without air conditioning! This place has no air conditioning - beware! Nice property, nice rooms but everything is wet from humidity - couch, bed, floors, counters - so mold smell is strong. When you get out of shower you cannot dry. Hot tub works perectly, pool is nice. Would be perfect property with air conditioning.

We just got back from staying at Kapaa Shores and we were really pleased with the staff and definitely the location of the resort. However, the lack of air conditioning was a little uncomfortable. After traveling a whole day to get there and being a little on the cranky side already made the heat even more unbearable! If you are planning on staying there I would recommend a unit that is directly facing the ocean. We had an ocean view but were perpendicular to the water so we barely had any breeze at all. We were in a 2 bedroom unit so the master bedroom was upstairs with only 2 vent windows on the front of the unit, no air could even pass through up there so it was at least 10 degrees warmer than downstairs.

Loved it. Just loved it. We were assigned room 302 and had a lovely ocean view. The room lacked ac and it never quite cooled off, but it was so nice. The room was clean, nice grounds, responsive staff.

Maybe I'm jaded because before Kapaa Shore we stayed at Worldmark's Valle Isle in Maui for a week. That place, what a complete and total dump. We were assigned the dreaded room 102 at Vale Isle. So our transtion was like moving up from a Motel 6 in Maui to the Ritz in Kauai.

Kapaaaaah. So nice. Aloha.

We are at KAPPA SHORE right now and we love this place. Peaceful and relaxing. The condos are great. Clean and spacious. The ocean view is spectacular from any vantage point. Plenty to do on this breath taking island
Definitely would come back
