There is a huge price advantage to renting a car in the U.S. before you get there. The prices are not even remotely comparable. The people on Tripadvisor.com recommend Dominic or Cactus car rental. Cactus is the cheaper of the two. We've always gotten a small car, manual, for about $150.00 (and we let our credit card insurance cover everything but the required Mexican liability, which is about $10.00 a day). And of course, the price of getting to Coral Baja with a shuttle/taxi can be counted against the cost of renting a car, which brings the cost down more.

We prefer to have a car for trips here and there--more private beaches, the glassblowing factory, etc.

Hello...

Planning a trip there in a few weeks. I'm wondering is there any advantage to renting a car at the resort vs the airport?

Thanks,

Liz

Gordo Banks Panga Fishing. You'll stay on the Sea of Cortez side - the boats aren't really built for big ocean waves. But the fishing is amazing!!!! Good luck!

The back building does not have an ocean view and is near the road. The front building overlooks the ocean.

It seems that you must choose front building or back building. Does it matter? Do you have a recommendation before I make my reservation? Are there any fun things to do in June? A group of 5 ladies are going down next June (2014)!! Thanks for the replies!

I spent quite a bit of time at CB this year and to comment that the activities person is boring would be too kind. Victor and Elana did what they were hired to do at 100 percent plus. This new person did absolutely nothing for the entire day except for a lame bingo game and water aerobics at their minimum. Supervised water polo, water volleyball and beach volleyball were completely omitted. Activities for children never happened. I realize that CB is unique for it's level of activities on site. This person needs to be replaced with someone who is a qualified activities director. I polled several other WM guests while at CB about this issue and the responses were in line with my comments. Nepotism doesn't qualify as experience.

I have been to C.B. several times and purchased gas for my vehicle. This year I have noticed that scamming at the pumps is becoming the norm. I was scammed for 300 pesos twice and a friend was also scammed. A word to the wise. If you gas up...#1 know the cost per ltr for gas #2 step out of your vehicle and stand at the pump at all times to observe that they started at zero. #3 DO NOT allow them to clear the meter until after you have paid them and get a receipt. Their trick is to distract you and clear the meter before getting you a cc receipt or cash receipt. It is wise to ask for a specific amt of petro and have that amt ready in cash. The chances of paying for more gas than you tank can hold will quickly vanish. These guys are really slick! And they work as a group to distract and confuse you.

Just returned from a 3 week stay and feeling quite relaxed now. Everything was well but I do think that Sardina Cantina slipped a little in service and food. Also, I don't want to complain too much but I feel the new activities director lacks in the ability to get things going. Over the years we have had Stephano (still great on the nights he is there), Elena, and Victor, who all got everyone going, and were very personable. The current gal is a not quite as outgoing and somewhat boring. Other than that, the place was still a great time!

Currently at Coral Baja, through Sunday. Anyone want to share a panga for fishing out of La Playita in San Jose? Share cost of boat.

Just got back to Colorado yesterday.

So wifi is poor at best through out the resort as they have been having problems. You can access it for free in the lobby in front of the activity desk. We would see several people sitting on the little sofa daily.

with smart phones and ipads you cannot hook up in the rooms unless you have an Ethernet connection plug on your device or and adapter (i-pad. All that is supplied is the cable. it was stored in the closet and the router is behind the sofa.

Sardinia's didn't reach to phase 3 but worked great in their restaurant. Mama Mia's didn't know their code so no connection by the pool.

Anyway no big deal. I didn't miss it much.

Oh well, we've been there and are back home. Now looking forward to our next trip down there smile Met Nora and her husband while there. We did go to the Art Walk, but our cooking class at the farm on Saturday started at 11 am and we didn't get back to the resort until between 6 and 7 pm so missed the market. Had a great time!

Hi Beth,
The Organic Market is on Saturday. It has been great this year, lots of artsy things, great produce and seafood available. You should for sure check it out. We are at the resort until April 9/13

Hello. My first post. Have thoroughly enjoyed other posts for years.

We are returning to Coral Baja on April 30th, 2013 for 9 nights. This time however, we will be accompanied by our 2o year old son and also perhaps with our 18 year old son. They have invited friends to accompany them, however their schedules are not as yet known.

So, what we are wondering is if any of you will have young adults present there as well at the same time?

Thank you, the Dhaliwal Family

Sardinia Cantina had a pretty strong wifi signal we could access from Phase 3 last year if that helps.

It would then, i suppose... Phase three is a long way from the lobby signal to reach. Perhaps they have installed wireless modems in the buildings now?

Thanks for the update.

Is there wireless signal in the rooms? I realize there is Ethernet cable connection but with an i-pad that wont work. Has anyone used an i-pad and where did they pick up wireless signal? Thanks!

Could you post specific information about how you rented a car for $150.00. Who did you rent through? What credit card covered the insurance? We have not been able to get it that cheap, and they always make us pay the insurance before we can take the car. How did you do it? Also, where it the glass factory?

Thank you. We have a cooking class at a local farm on Saturday, so we'll have to see if we can make it.

I'm leaving my room # at the front desk for Nora so we can connect when they arrive. When will you be down there? Maybe we could get together at the pool and talk?
