I am taking my two granddaughters for a return trip to Cabo. Last June, the activities director, Victor, made the stay really remarkable and fun for everyone but especially for kids. Does anyone know if he is still there?

I would get the 2 br. The one bedroom would be cramped. Most front buildings have veiws unless you get behind Mama Mia bld, anyway the kids could have their own bedroom. They also have murphy beds in the front room if needed.

Iam planning our first Cabo trip for next year. The choices I have left for rooms are as follows: 1 BR Deluxe, 2 BR King Bed and 2 BR Front Bldg. Unfortunately, there are no more 2 BR Penthouses available. Which has the best view that will accomodate 2 adults and 2 teenage kids? Thanks.

It is a battle throught the airport as you fight off timeshare offers. Now you have to do it at the resort. With the same verocity as those at the airport, the concieres desk attacks, pushes, and won't take no for an answer. The conciere could be such a help, but beware. Their motives are slimly vailed timeshare sales approaches.

Hi we will be traveling to cabo at the end of April 2011. All the information here is great. We are currently in the process of getting our passports which are pretty expensive. My question is, Are passports required to travel from the US to Mexico?

RENTING A CAR: definitely rent the car before going; it will be significantly less expensive when done from the U.S. Insurance issues to be aware of: 1. you need Mexican 3rd party liability insurance--and will be required to buy it. It covers damage you do to others or their property; it does not cover the vehicle. Mexican police do not care if the vehicle is insured or not; they do care about 3rd party liability. 3rd party liability insurance will cost you $7.00-$10.00 a day, depending on the company you rent from (AVIS includes the cost of 3rd party liability in their quote; others do not). 2. Insurance on the vehicle costs about $20.00 a day from the rental company. The insurance on your credit card costs nothing and becomes primary in Mexico (CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR YOUR CARD TO BE CERTAIN YOUR CARD INCLUDES THE INSURANCE). a. some people like the no-cost feature and like having Visa/Mastercard behind them if there is a problem. b. some people prefer knowing it will be handled locally with no questions asked. This is a personal decision--depends on what feels right to you.
No matter what you do about insurance, you'll save money on the basic rate if you rent from the U.S.; shop on line.
If you really want to save money, you can endure a time-share presentation and probably get the rental for nothing.

They do offer money exchange. When we exchanged, we did smaller bills but when we needed $100, we gave them $20 bills.

I don't know whether they do or not, and no doubt, someone who is there will tell you. However, I do know that Mexican law has changed regarding the amount of money that can be exchanged (in an attempt to stop some of the money laundering done by dealers in drugs/guns/people). Some establishments are taking the law very seriously; some...not so much. Do not be surprised if you cannot exchange $100.00 bills; those are much more difficult for the Mexican company turning in their money to a Mexican bank. Generally speaking, American companies, such as Costco, are continuing to take American money. In Rosarito, some small restaurants are accepting only pesos; others are still accepting dollars just as they were before the new law. To be safe, I would avoid large denomination American bills, and don't be surprised if you find some differences from 2009.

Go to http://www.tripadvisor.com. Click on forums. Click on Mexico. Click on Baja Califoria. It's people reporting back on visits, asking questions, getting in touch with specific people who answer questions all the time. Those who answer questions either live there or for years have been visiting several times a year. Of course, lots of people ask questions about safety. Do a search for safety and you'll find many threads and the replies. The answers come down to "Yes, Cabo is safe." You'll get lists of restaurants/things to do/places to go/etc. from people who have been there many, many times.

We were there in Nov and had no problem what so ever. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The people are friendly.

We have a two-bedroom penthouse booked for the end of July and are concerned about the safety in Mexico. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me the closest place to buy liquor, beer, & wine when first arriving? When we were there 10 years ago there was a small liquor store right up by the highway. Is it still there or will we have to make a trip to MEGA? Thanks.

About 9 miles. It's about 30 miles from the airport to Cabo San Lucas.
