Thank you, it's good to know that about Avis. We've never used the credit card insurance, but I have time to do more research on it.

A lot of Trip Advisor people like Dominick and a search using the name should bring up lots of posts. We use Avis because Avis includes the manditory Mexican 3rd party liability insurance (not for the car, for any damage you do to others or their property) in the quote they give. Avis also accepts the insurance included with Mastercard/Visa and does not require you to purchase insurance from them on the vehicle.
We feel comfortable with using the credit card's insurance, but lots of people prefer to purchase insurance from the car provider. Dominick includes insurance in the rates he quotes. You can, of course, purchase insurance on the car from any of the rental companies in Cabo, and as I said, we like Avis.
Be sure you do the car rental from the U.S.; you'll find the rates are definitely higher if you decide to arrange the rental after you get to Cabo.

Can someone tell me the best company to use when renting a car? Someone had mentioned a company they found on Trip Advisor, but I can't seem to find the post. They did rentals and tours.

If you search on www.kayak.com they show the fares for the entire month on the right had side of the screen. It's very easy to check from San Francisco and then change the city to Oakland.

We're planning on going during March 2013 and will be booking our room next month. Does anyone have suggestions on the best day/s to fly? We'll be leaving from either SFO or OAK.

Hi Last time we were there we called the time share and had them pick us up. It was really nice because they were right outside and had a sign that said WORLDMARK. There are dozens of cabs inside and they all are very aggressive they want to sell you timeshares. So it was nice to escape all that. Tom and I will be there Dec. 2nd coming from Wa. too!

Hello everyone pretty new owners here 2009 and going to Coral Baja in June for 10 days any suggestions as this is our first trip to this resort and Mexico we have not gotten our A/F yet but did find flights from Houston to Mexico for just about $500 sorry for the long read but totally green on this trip and just want to be ready.
Thanks Harold For tips from people who really know Cabo, go to http://www.tripadvisor.com Then click forums. Then click Mexico, then Baja California, then Cabo San Lucas. The regulars on the forum either live there or go multiple times per year. They have EXCELLENT restaurant lists and tips.

My wife and I and our 14 and 9 year old grand-daughters will be there June 1-8. We are going horseback riding. Even though we have been there three times before we have no answers to your questions. We hope to see you there. Larry

Hi All, my family and I are making our first trip to Coral Baja at the end of May. We are planning on kayaking to lands end, snorkeling, horseback riding at the resort, and so forth. The one thing I am wondering.... has anyone driven on their own to Fox Canyon. I have heard the it is not to far, but I am concerned that a 4x4 is required. We are renting a car (not 4x4), so I am wondering if we can still make the trip to fox canyon.
Has anyone been there in a car? I live in Colorado at 9K feet and drive a 2 wheel drive car all year round without issue, but I know sand can be tricky if it is soft.
Any info would be great. We will be there May 28th thru June 4th with a 17, 10, 6 year old.
Cheers, Heath

Just a reminder, when you use there phone leave a little something in the jar next to the phone. That way they will keep on letting all of us use it.

The store at the entrance to CB, trader dicks, has a internet phone (Vontage?) that you can use to call the US for no charge.

If you are taking your computer, Magic Jack works in Mexico. Everyone we know in Mexico has Vonage (not as portable) or Magic Jack. Get a U.S. number, and when in Cabo, you will be calling, through the computer's web link, just as though you were in the U.S. Don't know if that will save you money by the time you buy the device and pay the $25.00 for the first year's bill or not--but it might, and of course, you'd have the Magic Jack available for other trips.
