Have you stayed at WorldMark's Las Vegas - Tropicana resort? Here's your chance to tell other owners what it's really like. How big is the pool? How hot is the hot tub? What do you wish you had known before you left home?

We stayed there last weekend. We were on the 3rd floor. Guess what? No elevators. Kind of a challenge for some people. I was able to bring all our luggages up without help but I'm not sure if that was any help available if someone cannot carry their own.

The deluxe 2 bedroom was supposed to be roomier. It was ok, not too spacious like the others. The kitchen area was big. There was a small patio.

A shuttle runs every hour to downtown las Vegas. This was a good surprise, although I did not use it as I brought my own car. It's free. I think it runs up to 11 pm (or 1 pm at times).

The pool was about 70 degrees, probably still warming up when we checked in. The jacuzzi was nice (I think there were 2, one was partially enclosed)

It was newly opened so everything was clean. There is a small fitness room, but if you're a member of 24 hour fitness bring your membership card 'cause there is one about almost next to the resort.

Overall, it was a good stay. I haven't been to the other 2 Las Vegas resorts so I can't give a comparison. I would stay here again, but probably try to get the lower floors next time.

Do you happen to have any pictures of the new resort - either inside the units or outside? If so, can you post them on the photo album for this resort? Thanks!

Ya I would like to see this as well!!! I just called again after doing a little pointless research and on my first call I was told this place is brand new and that there are no pics available yet. Then I just called again about 2 mins ago and they said it has been open for along time but with limited availability. Im totaly not liking this and think Ill just stay at the Las Vegas BLVD resort. Atleast untill they show me some pics and the story is strait,.

We went to Las Vegas Feb 23rd. Even though the Worldmark website said that the Tropicana resort was open, when I called to reserve, they told me that it won't open until the begining of March. So we ended up going to the Las Vegas Blvd. resort.

While we were there we decided to drive by the new resort and take a look.
It was around 10pm when we got a chance to go by. We drove into the resort and saw that check in was open and that there were several units (around 10 or so) that had cars parked out front and lights were on in the units.
I doubt very much that there were people working on the units at that time of night. So i assume that there were owners in units.
Hmmn, very strange, since they said that the units wouldn't open until March. I wonder what is up with that? Now I find it also odd that another owner just posted that they had stayed there and then another owner posted after that, that they were told that the resort wasn't open yet. Are they picking and choosing who can stay there? That sounds ridiculous doesn't it?

Also, as far as what the resort looked like, it was pretty small. Its not newly built. They converted another condo complex or resort. I like the Las vegas blvd one the best. Its large and really a resort with all the pools and deli.
Although I haven't seen inside of this new one.
Also even though this one seems a bit closer to the strip, The location is a bit iffy and not as nice as the LV blvd one. I haven't been to the Spencer st resort in 10 years so I cannot compare.

The resort is open. I have called it several times at the number listed on the resort description page - (702)818-1940. Every time I have called they have a real person answer at their front desk. I have a unit booked for March 20th to the 24th - I will be sure to let everyone know the real deal when I return. This has been beyond frustrating! If there is anyone from Worldmark that can shed some light on the numerous conflicting reports for this resort, it would be GREATLY appreciated!

I did say the resort was open BUT..."they said that some of the units are open and others are not complete", therefore not available...I am glad you got one that was ready to utilize.

Just finished a two day experience at the new Tropicana resort. We stayed at 6 World Mark resorts on our 30 day western driving trip.

We were Very disappointed with the units that face Tropicana Ave. There are approx 28 units that are facing the busy, busy, noisy, noisy, Avenue. World Mark really needs to add a drop down on the web site to let people know about noise or less desirable location like they do at other resorts. Then if they want to book this location they will not have any surprises at check in.

We were fortunate to be able to move to an interior unit after being placed in a noisy unit, but the AC did not work both days we were there and Las Vegas in March is still warm.

The two bedroom deluxe is not very big......the patio is approx 6' X 6' and it had a table and 4 chairs on it. We had to move 2 chairs out just so we could sit on the patio. The murphy bed is so hard to use that most of the furniture in the living room must be relocated. I think half of the furniture should removed so it would be easier to enjoy the unit.

It is good to have another resort in the Las Vegas area and I know with time all the tweeks will be worked out.

This is a renevovated existing property which is why a lot of my issues exist. All of the new World Mark resorts that we have visited are wonderful and I have been to a lot of them.

For the owners who need a elevator, there is not one here and all of the units, unless special needs, has stairs, even the first floor has a flight of stairs down. There is one bldg. for special needs that has a ground floor entrance.

My husband and I just returned from Vegas last night - we stayed at the Tropicana location. We loved it! We stayed on the 2nd floor in a one-bedroom unit. Although it was a little small - it was perfect. They did a great job decorating it and we found it to be VERY peaceful - nice break from the Strip. The only thing that was negative (but this will change soon) is that on Monday morning the construction on the adjacent buildings begins at 7:00 am. If you are not an early person or if you had a late night - don't expect to sleep late in the next few weeks

We were in building 3 which is not on the Tropicana Ave side and we heard nothing in terms of traffic.

If you are staying there in the next few weeks, keep in mind this is a new facility - the water had some air in the pipes for the first few minutes we had it running and made some interesting noises but it all went away after the first few minutes.

We do not have kids and went to Vegas for fun and entertainment - this was the perfect place! We were able to enjoy the Strip and afterwards, escape to the timeshare for relaxation.

I recommend getting a car if you plan on spending time seeing the sites and going to the Strip - especially for those people looking to spend late nights out. They have a shuttle that runs from the resort to Ceasars Palace (and back) just about every hour starting at 10:30 am and the last one is at 1:30 am. It's great if you don't plan on being out past that but if you do, you better make plans. A cab can cost you a bit only because ot the time they sit in traffic on the Strip. HOWEVER, if you get a car, almost all of the resorts have free self-parking and are very easy to get to. To avoid all of the traffic to get to the center of the Strip, simply take a left onto Decatur and a right onto Flamingo Ave and take it all the way down to the Strip - it has the least traffic (at least that's what we found). Besides, Flamingo Ave will also take you right to the Rio and the Palms and central to Bally's, Mirage, Bellagio, etc.

We loved our experience and had a great time! The people at the resort were very friendly and helpful - the host at the concierge desk is great! They have VIP passes to clubs and lots of discounts to so many things! We will be back next year!

I will post some pictures of the resort this week so keep a look out

Just returned from 4 nights at the LV Tropicana-Make sure you have the resort address with you, the taxi driver and his company did not know where this resort was- even when I said Tropicana- 5 mile from the airport, he took us to Spencer Street!
I was with 2 other women and we stayed in a 2 bedroom. The units are a little smallish, but clean and have all the ammenities, kind of nice that the w/d is outside in a closet off the porch- we could come back late, start a load and not have it keep us up. Lots of stairs and road noise. I slept on the hide a bed and it was very comfortable, now 6 adults in that unit would be very cramped.
We did not rent a car and that worked fine for us, there is an Albertson's 1/2 mile away and the other direction is Denny's, Starbucks and Walgreen. Most days we took the first shuttle (10am) to the strip, walked, gambled, ate lunch, watched all the people and then caught the 2:30 pm shuttle back to have pool time before heading back into the strip for dinner/shows. I have been to vegas a few times before and always stayed on the strip- this was actually nice as well. On the last day, we were so tired, we bought the 24 hour pass on the deuce (bus) and rode that up and down the strip.

How far from the strip is the Tropicana? We went new years and stayed at the Grandview resorts on a trade. It was a wonderful place to stay but it's 7 miles or so from Mandalay Bay. Having 4 teenagers with us was difficult because we had to drive them Downtown or the strip. So what is the best place closest to the strip? Is there any RCI places downtown? I must say the Grandview was awsome!!! No casino within that resort but next door was a casino and fabulous sportsclub. Great place for a female who loves sports!!! I would like someplace that the kids can walk to safely and do their own thing.

We stayed there from March 4, 2008 to March 8, 2008. The unit was on the 3rd floor and we didn't mind the stairs..good exercise. Lovely room, though we thought it a little small. Would be crowded if 4 or more were staying there. We had real problems with the noise. The living room faced Tropicana and the road is very busy at most hours. Then we had the wind. The wind blew and whistled at the door. The location of the master bedroom was poorly located. The twin room was much quieter. We weren't interested in sleeping in twim beds.

We checked out on Sat. and moved to Las Vegas Blvd. These plans were already in place. What a difference. We've stayed there many times, but this time we really appreciated the size, quiet rooms, being away from traffic.

The resort staff told us that the noise issue is being looked into. I certainly hope so. Not sure if I want to return. I do like the location...close to the strip, and nice decor. There were many units still under renovation.

We did not use the pool or any other facilities. The resort staff was fabulous. We were not on vacation...family issue. The gals were there to help with directions and printed out map quest since we were unfamiliar to the area. We appreciated there compassion and assistance while we were under such pressure. Thanks again to the staff.

We hope all will be resolved.

There was an article in Destinations that said the resort is right next to The Orleans casino. Is this true?

Thanks,

Close but not right next to it. The Orleans Casino is listed as 4500 West Tropicana, the resort address is 5275 West Tropicana. Streets & Trips says it is 0.6 miles from one to the other. We drove past the Tropicana location last year before it was open but I don't remember what is between the resort and the Orleans.

Decisions, decisions ...

OK, I need help. I'm hoping to go to LV Aug. 6-10 for just an "escape" trip. My main goal is to lie in the very hot sun with a very cold drink most of the time, but of course being in Vegas there is so much more to do!

So here's my dilemma ... at both the Tropicana and LV Blvd. resorts I can only find accomodations for the 6th and 7th, not the 8th and 9th. That's not so bad, I found a nice deal at the South Point Hotel & Casino down south of the strip (about a mile past the WM LV Blvd. site) and I can stay there Friday and Saturday nights. The question is, where to stay those first two nights? Is the Tropicana site close enough to the strip to not need a rental car? I'd like to save the rental car money and use it for my usual donation to the gaming economy. I figure if the Trop is close enough, I can gamble to my heart's content those first two days/nights and then cab it to the South Point and spend the last two days hanging around there.

Whattya think?

AND ... tell me about the pool/hottub area at the Tropicana, please! I love the pool at the LV Blvd resort because it's big enough you can alway find space to not have to deal with others (and their children). Will I find peace and respite at the Trop resort??

I stayed at the LV Tropicana location a few weeks ago and found it to be very nice. I had a two bedroom "deluxe" unit on the top floor with a nice view of the pool. If you head west on Tropicana Blvd then pass Decatur St the Worldmark is the second or third driveway on the left side about 2 miles from the I-15. It has nice curb appeal driving in and has really nice custom car shades over the parking stalls. You can tell right away that everything is fresh and new at this Worldmark.

The resort didn't have elevators as stated so it didn't bother us but I could see how a senior could have a hard time getting to the top floor. The room was nice but felt a bit cramped, maybe the furniture was a little too big or just arranged weird. Either way we ended up shifting some of the furniture around to get more open space and after that it was just fine. Also the balcony was extraordinarly tiny for a condo that size. The balcony only had a small table and 4 stacked chairs, no bbq. As we unstacked the chairs to sit we found that there was only enough room to put one chair on the floor next the the stack so only two people can be out in the balcony at a time. The bedrooms and bathrooms were updated, clean and good sized. The kitchen was fully stocked as usual with a stacked washer/dryer combo in its own room w the water heater. We did not use the pool but it wasn't very big from the looks of it.

The shuttle runs to the strip every half an hour but only returns you every hour, I thought that was weird. I assume all of the Worldmark shuttles for all Worldmark Las Vegas locations are now dropping off and picking up at Caesar's Palace. The driver made it a point for us to remember DO NOT get on another Worldmark shuttle if it did not say Tropicana on it. I stayed at the LV Boulevard in October and their drop/pick up spot was Monte Carlo. We stayed out past the last pick up at 1:00AM and caught a cab back to the resort and it was $12 not $20 like at the LV Boulevard.

Overall I would stay at the Trop again if I am going with friends just to live it up on the town but if I were going with family I would probably stay at the LV Boulevard since there are more room options, pools and recreation areas. But hey, Vegas is Vegas right?!

[font:Comic Sans MS]I stayed at the Tropicana about 3 weeks ago. I was only there for a few days and was glad it wasn't longer. The staff was wonderful! The room had an order that would not go away even with candles burning most the the time I was indoors. I did get a ground floor unit - I don't know what I would have done if it had not been available since there are no elevators. I don't do stairs very well at all.

Next time I go to Vages I'll try one of the other resorts.[/

My family and I were at the Tropicana Resort from 7/27-8/2. I loved it! We had a 2 bedroom deluxe unit. Yes, slightly smaller than other WorldMarks, but, still just as nice. I love how it does give you the idea you are in a "condo" and not a "hotel". Great size kitchen. Great size master bedroom. Living room a little small. Dining area a little small. However, VERY LIVABLE!!!

The temperature outside was 105-112. Extremely warm. The air conditioning kept up fine with the heat. We did very much enjoy and use the pool area. The temperature of the pool most refreshing. We only wished the pool stayed open later than 10:00 p.m. After coming back from The Strip, it would have been nice to be able to take another dip!

We were on the 3rd floor. Loved it. Stairs, yes, but, so what! I considered climbing the stairs as exercise. Oh, yes, the exercise room is great. Great machines. Very clean.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I did have to pack up quickly and forgot my digital camera. As soon as I unpacked, I called the resort to let them know. At first I thought nothing would be done. Oh, well. I will go buy a new one. But, I waited a few days and called again. THEY HAVE IT!!!!! It is being sent to me as we speak. So, I am excited.

I have stayed in this resort as well as Las Vegas Blvd. I would definitely stay here again. I truly enjoyed the way the buildings are separated with grass/plants/trees. Las Vegas isn't as "landscape friendly". The lazy river at L.V. is great, but, I don't think that extra perk would be enough to stay there over the Tropicana.

Yes, I truly loved our stay!

Did you stay in the 2br Queen Deluxe and if so, did both rooms have queens and how was it with the Murphy bed out? We have 6 people going and are considering this room.

Thanks

My wife and I stayed there back in June, 16th to the 20th, for our 25th Anniversary. We had a one bedroom and for being our first stay as world mark owners is was definitely worth it. Yes the room may have been a little small if we would have had either our younger kids or a couple of friends but, I agree with others it was great. Our room was on the second floor and was great exercise after walking the strip for 10 to 12 hours every day. We did not make the pool though since we would leave the resort on the 10:00am shuttle and return on the 11:30pm shuttle.

The Las Vegas tour they had on wednesdays was great. The shuttle driver supervisor was very knowledgeable. She was the daughter of Mary Wells of the Supremes and lived in red rock canyon so she had grown up in the vegas area and watched as it changed and grew.

The thing to remember is that if you use the shuttle then you do not need to worry about parking on the strip or the traffic which did get heavy during the day. You can get a 24 hour pass for the deuce bus that goes up and down the strip and only cost 5.00. There are alot of things that you can do and see without spending a lot of money. You can also catch one of the other world mark shuttles to go and tour them. We did not think of it till our last day and had a show to go to that evening.

We just got back from staying at the Tropicana resort for 5 nights. We enjoyed our stay pretty well. The location was OK. Not as close to the strip as we had thought but nontheless OK. We had to speak to the front desk a few times to get items that should have been left in the room, and we got them right away. Most all employees were very nice and helpful and they made you feel welcome.

We stayed with one other couple and we had a 2 bedroom 'deluxe' room. I am not too sure what makes it 'deluxe'. I agree with other posts...the furniture was much too big for the room. We removed some of it and did some re-arranging and we managed to make it work. The patio area was very small and as a result we did not use the patio area.

We did make sure to request a room that was not close to the street and we were put in building 11 so it was very quiet. The only noise issue is we were on the first floor and the people above us for one night were heavy footed. Other then that really quiet!

All in all it was an OK stay. We will visit again if the other resorts are filled up.

Just stayed at the resort for a business trip(March 15-19). Is closer to strip than Worldmark Las Vegas, not by much, about a mile. That is probably the only thing better about this resort than the other resort. To start, when I arrived there was no dishwasher soap, a few of dishes were dirty(not a big deal, I asked for some at the front desk and they were very helpful). Small 1 bedroom unit(if you need a huge walk in closet and a big bathroom and nowhere to sit in the living room it would be perfect). Tiny balcony(room for 2 chairs and a table, if you can get around the table, no bbq). Small recreation area(one pool table, one video game). Only 3 computers compared to a room full at the other resort. Other resort has lazy river, deli, bbq on large balcony, much better. This resort will be a last resort option for me if I can not book the other resort. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF THIS RESORT COST MORE POINTS. Don't waste your points on this resort if you can book the other resort. Not being negative, I am just being honest. I have been to the other resort 4 or 5 times and have never had a negative thing to say.

We stayed at the Tropicana resort during Easter weekend. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location of the resort wasn't too bad...about a mile from the strip. The closest casino was New Orleans. There was a Walmart & Albertsons about two blocks from the resort. The other resort is very FAR from the strip (miles), however, WorldMark Las Vegas is a much nicer resort with a lazy pool, deli bar, front lobby, etc etc etc. WorldMark Tropicana is the only resort closest to the strip. If you decide to take the shuttle the last one departs from Ceasars Palace back to the resort at 12midnight. Uuuuh, yeah in the city of Vegas, the city that never sleeps, that might be a slight problem (unless you change your mind to take a taxi). Luckily, we drove... so the car came in handy....we could leave the casinos at anytime! Why cook?... When you can eat at the buffets. But I have to say the kitchen glassware was not as clean. And there was no dishwashing soap. Other than that, it was a nice and quiet place to stay.

Tropicana is fairly close to the strip, about 2 miles. I stayed there over the weekend, and it was a very nice facility. The room was clean, and so was the pool...although the pool is a bit small for the number of rooms at the resort. All major grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, etc. are within walking distance. The closest actual casino is the New Orleans, about a .5-1 mile away.

Since I've stayed at both the LV Blvd. and Tropicana resorts, I believe that Tropicana is more for folks who need a place to crash and sleep after a long night out. The LV Blvd. resort is for the family thing. Nice big main pool, another pool, lazy river, big spa, etc. Plus the rec. room is bigger and there's just more stuff. It is more of a "resort".

As a minor point of interest, I am curious as to why the A/C cannot go below 70 degrees. Is that standard for A/Cs, or is it a worldmark thing? Just curious...

My husband and I went to Las Vegas in August of this year 2009. We enjoyed our stay. We decided to drive from the Central Valley to Las Vegas to just spend some time with each other since we are so busy working. We arrived earlier than 4:00pm which is check in time...I called before arriving in Las Vegas just to see if we could get checked in early since we were exhausted from the long drive. They told us no..no early check ins so we went to New York, New York and got a bite to eat. Once we arrived back to the Tropicana, the room was ready, however it took us a time to find it. It was on the street side of Tropicana Avenue, located in the back. We asked several people that were working there and they didn't have a clue as to where the room was located. We encountered two other employees and both of them told us different directions. By now we are really exhausted, hot, and frustrated. We kept looking and finally we found our room. The room itself was comfortable, a two-bedroom, two bath unit and it was clean. There were plenty of towels which we didn't know until I went to the office to inquire about more towels, they told us there was more of them under the bathroom sink. The only complaint we had, was parking such a distance from the unit, carrying luggage and food was inconvenient but overall we were pleased during our stay. We were there for 4 days. I would recommend this resort. The people in the office were helpful and courtesy.
We also booked a tour for the Grand Canyon and the tour bus came right to the resort to pick us up. The driver stated that this was the only resort that they did pickups in that area. We will be going again to the Tropicana! I did have one other complaint. I had my laptop and they also charge for Internet Service. I thought that was a bit much and just used the computers they had in the office to check email, etc.
