We returned from a week stay. We stayed in the 2 brm penthouse. The unit was clean and relatively quiet. The best part was the great view of the hills. The staff was so so. The town is small, cute, has great sweets, closes early, and has great breakfasts. Paula’s and the Belgian cafe (same owner). Try the early bird Belgian waffle special at The Belgian Cafe before 9AM weekdays, save some $. Augustine’s was very good. Get coupons by the front desk for 2 for 1 there. Lots to do in surrounding area.

The falls were beautiful. Went to the lake to rent a boat, not till this summer. Big lake. Great, if you have a boat. Go into SB for the day. Check out the beaches. Drive through YB Valley and do some wine tasting. Mini horses were cute and lavender was close.

Here is what you need to know about the units: The furniture needs replacing, sofa bed was deplorable. We sank in and the frame jammed into the back of our legs so we could not even sit on it.
Units with sofa beds only really sleep 4 (unless it is the people you dislike that you give the sofa bed to).
TV's are really small, we expected at least a small flat screen in the LR, nope!
Not enough parking, the pool is too small for the resort size, pool is a long walk from some of the units.
Have to pay for internet and movies, come on, do we not pay dues for this?

We used 6,000 extra credits for a Penthouse. The only differences, we were told by the front desk, were: Robes, larger towels, better flat wear, better furniture (not wicker), and a single person jet tub in the master bedroom. We expected more for the number of credits used to upgrade.

We have never stayed in a penthouse before and I will not waste my credits on a penthouse in the future.

This post will probably be sensored, but I wanted to it told.

I stayed in Solvang May 8th, in a one bedroom. They have been redoing the units, and I got one that was new! The unit I stayed in had a flat screen in the livingroom. The patio face a large field with a path that people walked. It was really nice. I enjoyed my stay there. Only 2 things I didn't like 1- was you could hear everone as they walked down the hall. i don't think anything can be done about that. 2-the sleeper sofa for 2. I decided to test it out myslef, it wasn't very confortable. The staff was extreamly nice and helpful. No attempt to get me into a "owner breakfast" which I loved! I am going back in December to see the light and celebrate my birthday with friends! I would definately recomment comming here.

Just got back from our 4th stay at the Solvang resort. This is the first time we stayed in a studio (that was all that was available), it was in the main building, 3rd floor, room 1302. The amount of space was fine for a studio, it had what seemed to be a full size kitchen except only a two-burner stovetop & no oven. Our complaint was that there was no "real" bed in this room (we've stayed in San Diego's studio & it was like a hotel room with a real bed). The bed, if you can call it that, was a murphy bed that the couch was in front of so you have to remove all of the couch pillows & cushions before you can pull down the bed. The mattress was super thin & it felt like laying on a piece of plywood & it kept creaking everytime we moved, it was hard to get a good nights sleep & we woke up sore. I will never stay in a studio again in Solvang. We have stayed in one, & three bedrooms before & they were great. We do love this resort & will keep going back since it is so close to home & is a nice little getaway for a couple days. This resort does not have an owner update room or staff, so you won't be bothered by the sales pitch or trying to book you for their presentation.

We loved Solvang so much! Our condos were so beautiful and the penthouse option made us feel like we were truly living in luxury: Hot tub, beautiful decor, updated kitchen, tile work, not to mention the peaceful mountain view. The front desk assisted us so graciously when we checked in and the men who worked the grounds always made us feel so welcome and said hi to our small toddler. This was such a memorable vacation at Solvang. Solvang and the surrounding area were inexhaustible in cultural and natural offerings: Pastries (we collectively gained a few pounds the moment we drove into town!); farmer's market, wine tasting, hiking, visiting horses, the beach at Gaviota, and a Surrey ride in town. What a great time!
