We stayed here the third week in October. My best friend was getting married at the Sir Francis Drake, and we used the resort as our home base for the week before the wedding. We stayed in a one bedroom, two bath unit. We were surprised at the size of the room as it was much larger than we expected. The resort is in a nice location as we were able to walk to most of our destinations-Union Square, China Town, and we were only two blocks from the Drake.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. My son did not stay with us (he has friends in SF) and they helped him to get to his destination (printed out the map with which buses to take). I definitely would recommend this resort and will be staying here again in the future!

My daughter and I stayed at the resort for one night, 12/27. We drove in, parked in the garage across the street, our room was ready at 12:30 so she gave us the key! We took a cab to Phantom, and then over to Pier 39 from there, and back to the resort.

We had a 1 bedroom less desirable and I really liked it as it was "inside", with the window facing a courtyard. It was quiet, no street noise. I really like this resort - especially when you consider what it costs for 1 night in a decent hotel!

Service was great, staff wonderful, and will return time and time again!

Hi jeanne!!!

Unfortunately there was no parking garage even when it was a hotel...almost all the parking for cars is at garages not affiliated with resorts/hotels, etc. Just being the trade off for staying in the city.

We love the San Francisco property. We fly in the SFO and take BART to downtown and walk up the street. There is a little kiosk in Union Square where you can get a 3 day pass for unlimited street car or Muni buses. At the same kiosk you can by half off tickets to many of the play house plays and other goings on around town. The lobby has discount coupons and there is a great Italian pizza place right down the street called Uncle Vito's.

Recent Trip Advisor reviews suggest there has been renovation within the building. Anyone know what is being done and when it's expected to be competed?

My husband and I are going to stay in the SF property during the National Senior games. I've been watching for a reply or other information regarding remodeling. Anyone know anything about this?

On another note. Since I've already bugged the desk staff with other questions, I thought I'd ask other owners a couple of questions. Do the units have toasters? A coffe pot, microwave and toaster and I can do breakfast.

Just wondering any information will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Coffee pot and micro - yes.

I do not believe they have a toaster.

They also have real forks, and knifes and cups. Unlike Deer Harbor.

I'm planning a short trip for me and my husband in November to SF. Can anyone tell me the difference between the rooms? Or maybe give me a recommendation for a nice room for just two people? I notice there are several different types of rooms at this location, but don't know the difference between the rooms at all! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I am sure you know, the resort is more like a hotel than your traditional timeshare. Due to the age of the building there is a lot of variation in terms of unit size and layout. The studio's are more like your normal hotel rooms, and the 1 bedroom's more like a hotel suite with a small separate sitting room/bedroom arrangement. The 1 bed 2 baths are the largest units with a sleeper sofa in the living/sitting area and a separate bedroom. In the 1 BR/2 Bath unit we were in, the small kitchen area (sink, mini-fridge, and micro) was in a narrow hall connecting the living room with the bedroom. All units are on the small side, as you would expect in at a downtown location.

The top floor units require use of one flight of stairs to get up to.

Despite the room size, it is a great location.

We stayed here twice in September, in a studio and then a compact 1-br. As others have said it's a hotel rather than a resort.

We though it was great: excellent location, knowledgable and helpfpul staff.

Be sure to check out the discount coupons.

I was watching/listening to the live feed from the WM Annual Meeting in Bellevue, Washington tonight and it suddenly occurred to me that I'd stayed at WM SF FOUR times in the past 4 months. Thus, I should probably review it. Gotta give back, as we've had a wonderful time each time.

We'd stayed at WM-SF twice in the past few years but, for some reason (various events, such as Giants games and theater and museums, etc.), we've stayed there a lot since mid-June. Three of the visits were for one night. One was for two nights.

Three of the visits were studios. One was a Special Needs studio (there are four of them, all on the second floor). One was "the big room" (slept four, with two bathrooms) on the Fourth Floor. The last one was on the Top Floor, where you have to walk up the stairs. It had an awesome view. I could see the TransAmerica Pyramid as well as the top of Nob Hill among other incredible buildings. I got lucky, in getting that unit. Plus it was a beautiful day. If in a hotel, that unit would cost 4 or 5 times as much.

I live locally (and worked in SF for 25 years, years ago) so getting a unit at SF WorldMark is always a special last-minute treat.

Our urban resort is in an ideal location, to the cable cars and down the hill to either Chinatown shopping/eating to the East and Union Square (shopping, eating, people watching, galleries, etc.) to the slightly South.

We love SF WM. Theater, restaurants, shopping, wandering --- it cannot be beat. Just don't try to drive there. Take public transportation.

The units are small but they do have microwaves and small bar fridges. As far as I can tell (having stayed in 4 separate units this past summer), they all have wine glasses and real spoons/forks/knives. The plates are not really plates. They are paper or something like it. You can use them in the microwave though.

We've gotten attached to the small market kitty-corner across the street. It's called Food Fair and actually has some healthy food (sandwiches/fruit/frozen food and baked goods, etc.) which suit us fine, if we need a snack late at night. They close at 11pm. WM has a coupon for the market, as well as coupons for quite a number of restaurants within two blocks. We've eaten at Maru Sushi and Roxanne's and the Far East Cafe, up Grant, and quite a number of close-by places with coupons.

If owners understand what "urban resort" means (no pool, tennis, parking, etc. --- and the space is tight) and are flexible about the type of room they might get, this is a jewel in our system. We love WM SF. Also, the staff (desk people like Lois and John, etc. and the bell people also, who will get you a taxi) are the best.

Enjoy. I almost don't want to give a review, as I'd like it for myself.

Actually, "they" don't need to do anything about the parking. When owners visit WM-SF, they need to understand that parking is almost impossible. The literature tells owners that.

That's why it's classified as an "urban resort." The Camlin in Seattle is similar.

Don't bring a car. Use public transit. There is plenty. That's the joy of an urban resort. We can all learn something when getting around without a car, especially in a city.

As others have mentioned, the location just can’t be beat. The staff was fantastic and the building had so much charm.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom hotel unit and it was much larger than I expected, and had two rather large bathrooms. The living room had a flat screen TV, microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot and pull out bed. There was also a nice sized closet in the living room with a plastic ‘dresser.’ The bedroom had a queen size bed, TV and small closet. Our room was on the outside of the building and was directly facing the Sutter Stockton garage and had a view of Union Square. Had we known where to park, we could have seen our rental car from our window. The garage cost $8 to park overnight because we didn’t pull in until after 9 p.m. and left a few minutes before 8 a.m.

The downside was the noise at night – I was woken up multiple times by sirens, loud music, and yelling, but my husband slept ok, so maybe it was just me???

Great place and we loved it!

We (two adults, 18-year-old and 15-year-old) just returned from a week in San Francisco and wanted to share some tips and updates. Some of this may repeat what others have already said, so I apologize in advance for the repetition.

Having grown up in CA, my wife and I have both been to San Francisco many times, but this was our first time to the WM resort there. The resort location is fantastic! Very short walks to Chinatown, Union Square, cable cars, etc. We rented a car for a couple of days to explore Monterey/Carmel and Sausalito (across the Golden Gate Bridge), but the rest of the time we used the buses and streetcars. We purchased 7-day passes for $26 each at the TIX outlet in Union Square and they were well worth it! This is definitely the way to go.

Here were some of our restaurant favorites: Far East Cafe on Grant in Chinatown (~4 blocks from resort), Taqueria for Mexican (literally just across the street and down the stairs to Stockton - the WM staff eat there a lot), Hillstone on Embarcadero & Montgomery - take the "F" streetcar on Market toward the wharf and look for it on the opposite side of the street from the piers. The French Dip sandwich there is the best! Butterfly next to the Alcatraz Cruise port was also excellent but more expensive than the others. Don't miss Boudin's for sourdough bread. There's one on Market, one in the Union Square Macy's cellar, and the big one is on Fisherman's Wharf. If you want a great view of the ocean while you eat, go to the Cliffhouse (probably want a taxi for that). Look up the interesting history about this San Francisco landmark before you go. Two restaurants are there - Sutros and the Bistro. The Bistro is first-come, first-serve, but we only waited about 15 minutes on Saturday at 11:30. Excellent crab! Again, a little pricey but worth it for the views, food quality, and service.

We'd been to Alcatraz several times before, but we did the night tour on Friday night for the first time. Very cool. Worth the slight difference in price from the regular tours. Rented bikes on Fulton and rode around Golden Gate Park for a couple of hours. Thought about doing the Segways or GoCars down by the wharf but decided neither was worth the cost for four of us.

We had a 1BR unit with 2 bathrooms on the 8th floor. It was small but very functional and we spent most of our time out anyway. If you're not used to big-city sounds at night, the resort provides earplugs, but we just left the window a/c fans running which drowned out most of the noise. The staff was very, very helpful and friendly.

If you get the chance and like big cities, this is a definite place to visit!
