I hate to tell this, but the other spa at the Rec center is a well kept secret. We love to go up there (even though there is no view) because we are usually by ourselves. I love Gleneden!

I hate to let others know this but this resort is hands down the best along the Oregon Coast. Not sure why anyone would stay at Depoe Bay when this resort is only 5 miles down/up the road.

The views are great if you get one. They even have a light that beams out onto the beach at night so you can watch the ocean all night long.

I agree with bigdog099, Gleneden has just become my favorite resort after having just returned last week from there. It was peaceful, scenic, romantic, and will be one of the most memorable vacations we have taken. The area where the resort it located is beautiful and private and the grounds are immaculate. This would be an ideal honeymoon location. Each and every person on the resort staff was very helpful and professional. We had a 1 bedroom unit that faced the ocean. It was clean, well laid-out, and spacious. It was only a 1-minute walk down to the ocean. The hot tub and pool face the ocean and it is a delight in the evening to soak as you watch the beautiful sunsets. The location of the resort is great because it is close to Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Newport.

I agree with bigdog099. This was a wonderful resort. So secluded and romantic. The rec. area is very nice and large. I wonder if you could even hold a family reunion or wedding reception there. I will definately be back. Even in the rain the spa at night was our favorite thing to do.

We just returned from about our 10th visit to this resort. Obviously we love it. This was bonus time which we haven't gotten in a long time. The weather was great. We had a 3rd floor room in the back building. A great view.
Something new since our last visit in May is meals in the rec center. On Wednesday night they have spaghetti for $7, $5 for seniors & children. I was all set for it and it was canceled at the last minute. They also have some breakfasts. We had the waffle & pancake one for the same price as above. It was really good. All you can eat and comes with bacon & sausage.
The huge disappointment was that the hot tub in the rec center is closed because the heater is out. They didn't seem to be in any great hurry to get it fixed. It's a bit cold to walk around to the one in front and it was packed.

Thanks for the update, Ronnie. We're going with another couple in July and this will be the first time. Can't wait.

We've have a week booked for the first week in May - 2010. With special need dogs it's been tough trying to use our credits these past few years. Thankfully, we found a sitter that will stay in the house while we're away.

I recently stopped by Gleneden and the Rec center hot tub was still broken. This was a major issue for me. The reason I booked Gleneden was to sit in that tub! A note to self and a tip to all owners, call the resort ahead of time to see if there are any issues that might concern you....

Hi
We just got back March 15th and the pool was still down they told us it was to open the day we left. Was a little disapointed in this resort. We arrived a little early and our room wasn't ready the lady at the desk asked if we had a cell phone and she would call us when our room was ready. We never did get a call after an hour we went and checked and our room was ready. Also when making the reservations they never mentioned the swimming pool being closed. We where disappointed at first but both of us got a cold so just as well I guess. I thought the people at the front desk where rude. They seemed to be more into themselfs than waiting on the patrons. I had to wait quit a while when I went to buy a couple of jackets for someone to accknowledge me being at the desk.

Anyone know what exactly less desirable location means? And how the 1 bedrooms are laid out? Just curious. We are headed there end of June. And is the pool/spa up and going yet?

I just returned from a stay at Gleneden and I was completely satisfied with my stay. The location is fantastic, the grounds are pleasant and park like. I was in a 1 bedroom in the back, or what is called Less Desirable location, and that is a matter of opinion, I can't say I agree with the less desirable description, each to his own. I had no problem hearing the ocean and I could see it from the balcony. The size of the unit was excellent. The Murphy Bed, has more than enough room to be left in the down position without interferring with any other movement. I found the staff helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back, and I agree the pool with the view of the ocean, definitely a bonus!
