Well, I've been a Worldmark owner since 1998, and I've learned that what I can expect is some very nice rooms in not necessarily the best location but pretty good, and great service. The front desk and lobby concierge staff were very helpful whenever we needed something, thought the concierge staff was a bit pushy. Everyone made an effort to ask if we were having fun, which I found amusing since it seems like they were really trying to overcome the bad rap they had in previous posts.

My main complaint is the inconvenience of the painting. I understand they can't do anything about the construction across the way at the other hotel (which is a bummer because they woke us up at 6:30 am twice with their noise), but the painting of our room door and walls just outside the room while we were staying here is I think over the top rude. There is paint on our stroller now because there was no way to get by all of the painting equipment in the narrow hallway without getting it on the wheels and sides... though the painting contractors did their best to help. We are checking out in the morning, have stayed a week in a 3 bedroom penthouse and have brought a LOT of stuff, and we have received a notice on the door (before the painting) that they will be painting outside our room again tomorrow. I don't know how we'll get all our stuff down to the car without paint all over it. It's just wrong. They should block out nights where they don't rent the units that are having their actual doors painted and the walls outside. Especially when we used up extra credits to get the nice penthouse unit, thinking that would make for an extra nice vacation.

The other thing is that the penthouse units are right on the end of the building, nearest the train tracks. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me -- shouldn't the nicer units be furthest from the noise? Train noise wakes us up at least twice a night, and shakes the floor and furniture when they go by. Yes, my 4 year old likes the trains, but I'd really rather sleep -- I'd been looking forward to sleeping in this vacation, and haven't been able to once, thanks to the construction and the trains.

Other minor things -- yes, elevator is the slowest in history, yes, they need more luggage carts to go around, the blow dryer in the master bedroom is broken, the beds are so bouncy they are like trampolines, every time my husband or I turn over we wake each other up. I'm looking forward to going home and getting some sleep.

The sales pitch took longer than we wanted, and again, I am reminded NOT to attend those things, they aren't worth the $75 they give you. I can't believe they are still trying to get me to buy MORE credits when on the resale market I can't GIVE this stuff away. I have to PAY someone to take it off my hands. No way would I invest any more money! Not as high pressure as the Fairfield / Wyndham presentation, but still, the main focus was NOT helping me learn how to use my points, except to point out that because they aren't Travel Share points I can't use them as flexibly.

I agree with the sales pitch. First, they make it sound like a it's a Owner's update on how to use your credits better and then they try to get you to purchase more. We have been owner 98 and have 20,000 credits annually and they still wanted us to purchase more on the spot. Yes, the $75 gift card and the buffet breakfast was nice however the pressure sales pitch was not. To ask us & any owner to dish out $10,000 or more right then and there left a bad taste in my mouth with Worldmark. Maybe if Worldmark gave us owners some real time to talk about it, like to the end of their vaction stay, then maybe they will get more owners to buy more credits. They give you the gift card if you come and listen to their sales pitch anyway so they would not be losing anything, only gaining if they just respect and give owners some time to see if they want and can make it work.

What are wrong with the words "No Thank You". I have used them so many times and they have always been respected. Yes there are times I have sat through the sales pitch just to get the rewards but I have been up front honest with the Wyndham employee. It is a 2 way street. In most cases I have learned something and so have they because I keep up with what is going on with my owner ship. When you go to a resort and you do not want to be bothered with the sales end of the business just say NO THANK YOU. They do listen. They have helped me more times than I have been irritated--- with community information, directions and even reservations at local businesses. I enjoy talking to the Wyndham sales staff.

I am glad going to the updates works for you. That is great that you are up front with them, it probably stinks for that salesperson that will not get a sale but great for you. We did say NO, THANK YOU 3 times but they kept pushing more benefits on us. We do not have any problem saying NO so that was not the issue. Yes, all the employess of Worldmark that we had have been great in the last 20 years. All I was trying to say is that if they gave the owners more time to decide; it might work to their benefit especially for the salespeople.

We have just had a wonderful 11 night stay here and can't wait to return. We had a 1 bd with our 7 and 5 yr olds. We bought a ready bed from WalMart for the younger one so they didn't have to share a bed and it worked out perfectly. The staff were fantastic, especially Amy who helped us with organising hospital information for our son. She really went above and beyond in all she helped us with. We were on the 4th floor which we loved. We had a grill on the balcony which was perfect. The pools were great and the location was fantastic for us to do everything in San Diego and up to Disneyland and Knotts. Legoland was just 10 mins away which was great. We would really recommend this place, especially for families

Oceanside was better then expected. I read the reviews for this resort and was nervous. With a very bit of apprehension coming into this place, it met all our needs and is a place we would come back to.

We booked for a week however, cut our stay short by a day or two because we are going to the Rose Bowl Parade and want to stay closer. We arrived on Sat, Dec 26th and got right into our rooms. We had reserved both a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom. We found them both to be clean and ready for our arrival. Room numbers 3134 and 3117.

We are surprised at some of the people’s comments about buying more credits. We came here with 35k and bought another 6k to bring us to a 41k a year. To us, this is the best investment we could have done. It is such a joy to travel and have an enjoyable place to stay. We did not feel pressured to buy, but we came with every intention of purchasing more credits. We have booked a few more places for this year and can’t wait to enjoy them.

The resort is still doing their painting. We see signs for it but have yet to actually see them working. It has not interfered with our stay.

We used the gas grill for cooking a few nights. It worked well and the food tasted like a real bbq. Something I miss at my “real” home. When we were staying in Las Vegas last year they replaced the gas with electric bbqs. That was a really bad idea in my opinion. I like the gas grill.

We always get the internet service when we arrive at a place. It was a surprise to find they had run out of modems. They took my room number and put me on a wait list. However, the next morning I noticed a lot of rooms had checked out so I went down and asked if they had one available. Sure enough they did and I got it with out even a question.

We did a few of the local attractions around here. Sea World, and both Zoos. Get your tickets from Costco if you can. They are very inexpensive for the 3 parks. We also went on a harbor tour. We took the 2 hour tour and found it to be very enjoyable. My son is interested in military so the south tour shows a lot of Navy ships.

The outlets are close if shopping is something that you enjoy. They had some good sales for us. Your experience may be different.

We have stayed at the Oceanside resort at least 6 times as our son is stationed at Camp Pendleton and it is so close and convenient when we come to visit him. We have reservations to go there next month. We have always found the staff to be helpful and loved the rooms. It may not be right on the beach but we enjoy the walk, sometimes we take the stroll where the little beach shops are and look at the boats moored there. I am glad they got rid of that hideous paint job, I am hoping the new colors are less gaudy. But all in all it remains one of our favorite resorts, of course the real appeal is seeing our son.

I dont know what type of levels some of the people that are writing these reports on oceanside are on, but the resort is beautiful, the rooms were massive, the staff was wonderful it is a great resort 2 stay at and i would definately stay again. We stayed in the penthouse, it was immaculate to say the least. As well as the service from the staff, we had a car breakdown and they went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. It almost seemed as if we diddnt have any problems at all thats how good this place is all in all id recommend this place 2 the choosiest person i know and not have any worries

I stayed at the resort in November 2009. I was in a 2bd unit and it was awesome. The resort was in a perfect location in Southern California. I liked being able to spend time in San Diego as well as Newport Beach. The staff was wonderful and helpful with all of our needs. The train did not bother me at all. The view we had from our room was excellent.

I would recommend this resort to anyone. In fact I have a reservation to stay for another week in November 2010. I will keep going back to WM Oceanside.

We just stayed at Oceanside and have the following observations:

* No problem with the office staff, beyond unfamiliarity with the area (looking for directions to the closest pharmacy, which the front desk employee didn't know).
* Noise is a major issue on both sides of the resort. The windows are not appropriate for a location this close to a freeway. The train was on the other side of the resort, but didn't seem that loud, even close up. But the insulative properties of the windows, while wonderful for the climate (is 65°-75° a climate?), were awful for the noise.
* They had a set of drapes on one side (in our room), but not the other, which appeared to be more for noise than light and the other room really could have used drapes (for noise & light)
* The rooms were decent, not too small in the living areas, where it counts. Recently painted and in good condition (except the BR furniture, which was poorly constructed)
* Location is OK, easy freeway access, which is good considering you have to use a freeway to get anywhere in SoCal! Short walk to the harbor and closest beach and a relatively easy rollerblade/bike or longer walk to the longer main beaches.
* Plenty of stuff to see/do in the area, Legoland (a green-circle amusement park; train your kids to say they're six to go on anything worthwhile), San Diego Zoo, Padres, etc.
* June gloom (morning fog w/ p.m. sun) was an issue, but we knew... I wouldn't personally go back in June.
* "High Speed" internet in the room... not. More of an issue for customer service than the resort, but a nuisance nonetheless.

Frankly, I was not that impressed with the one major item (sound management) and several smaller ones, and will choose other Worldmark resorts that I enjoy much more in the future.

I recently visited this resort for the first time in June. I arrived early that morning but I thought I might be able to check in early if the room was ready. The lady at the front desk said I could check in soon, she would call my cell phone when the room was ready. We went ate at IHOP and still didn't receive a call. We went to Legoland and still didn't receive a call. At 3:30 we left Legoland and headed back to the resort. At 3:36 I received a voice mail from the resort saying the room was ready. Even though check-in time is not until 4pm , I thought if someone arrived early they would try to get that room ready as soon as possible or would tell you the room wouldn't be ready until 4pm, and not tell you the room would be ready soon and get your hopes up.
The resort looked great and the workers were friendly. The room looked good also. Then our nightmare started. That night we noticed a small roach in the kitchen. We killed the roach and didn't think more about it until the next morning we saw more roaches. We called the front desk and told them our problem. They sent a maint. man up to see what was going on . He saw what the problem was and left. A little while later the front desk called and said they would have to spray the room and we would have to leave for a couple of hours. We didn't want to leave right then but we wanted the problem solved so we agreed to leave. We decided to go to the zoo that day so we left so they could spray.I was told that this was the first time they had this problem at the resort. I didn't believe them though. They said the problem was solved and that was all I cared about. That night we cooked dinner in the room and was about to eat when we noticed more roaches in the kitchen and the master bed room. I went down and talked to the front desk and they told me maint. was gone for the day and that they couldn't do anything. I told him we couldn't stay in that room he had to do something. He checked to see if they had another room available and they did so we took our pot of food and all our belongings and moved from the 4th floor on one end of the building to the 2nd floor on the other end of the building. When we first went in the room we noticed a couple of dead roaches on the floor and I thought here we go again, but after that we only saw 1 small spider and no roaches.
The rest of our days at the resort was nice. The noise didn't bother us except for the earthquake. Everyone at the resort was nice. Every time someone asked me how was my stay and I would tell them what happened and they would say sorry to hear that and that was it, so I knew they didn't really care they just had to ask.
We stayed there from Sunday the 13th until Thursday the 17th. The morning we was leaving I always like to check all the drawers, check under the bed and everything to make sure nobody left anything. When I checked under the sofa cushion I found a remote for the TV which had to be there for a while because the TV had a remote already. That showed me that the room wasn't cleaned real good. On the way out the room I decided to check under the twin beds where the kids slept. To my shock I found a pair of soiled woman panties. I was so disgusted I just left them under the bed washed my hands and left the room , checked out and didn't say anything to the front desk. They still might be there today. The front desk asked me how was my stay, I told them about the roaches and they said sorry to hear that and that was it.
If they cleaned the rooms better and take care of the roach problem that would be a great resort.

Hello cherry326,

These are items that WorldMark by Wyndham Management would like to know about so that we can take immediate action to get these issues addressed. If you would like to discuss your concerns with a representative, the most expeditious way to communicate that concern would be to send it directly to ownersupport@worldmarktheclub.com or call Owner Care at 888.648.7363.

I too had a terrible stay for the first time at this resort, although we've been going every two years to this property since 2002. We stayed in a 3 bdrm penthouse which I booked 13 months prior. 1st thing all three bedrms had the updated flat screen tvs, the living area did not. I used 20000 points for this unit, you would've thought that the main living area would be upgraded first. on our way to our unit, the two bdrms on our floor that had there doors open all appeared to have the upgraded tvs in the living area. I went to the front desk to let them know I was very disappointed and that I am using 20K pnts on a penthouse I expect the better amenities, and requested to be moved to another room with the upgrades, of course they said they were all taken even though the unit above stayed vacant for two nights. By this time, the front desk staff appeared to be getting annoyed with me for expecting the "nicer" tv.I even asked to have the manager call me, never heard from him at any time during my 8 night stay. I immediately went back and sent an email on 6/28 to owner suppot venting about the situation and never got a response, I called in several times on our check in date 6/28 to Owner Care never had any resolution from any representative, as they asked what I would like done to resolve the situation to my satisfaction, and I told them, I would like to have arrangements made to have my tv upgraded immediately, I even asked them to have the manager call me, never heard from him at any time during my 8 night stay. so of course after check out the survey comes and I all I rec'd was an email from the DM apologizing. My WM dues pay for quality accomodations and quality customer service, so something needs to be done to address this situation.

You had a "terrible stay" because the living room didn't have an updated television?

Our family has stayed at the Oceanside property 4 times over the last several years now and will be again in December, after Christmas. We have had nothing but good experiences and service. The property is in a good location and we enjoy the walk through the Oceanside Harbor to get to the beach. The restaurant on the end of the Oceanside pier is one of my kids' favorites. My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai last month and had several small creatures in our room- that is just the way it is on the humid, coastal areas. Anyone that reads this post should just know that you will be comfortable, served by courteous staff, and enjoy the location. I am glad they are changing the color scheme on the outside- the original color was hideous.

We just got back from a great week in Oceanside. Our resort was terrific - the two bedroom condo was perfect. Everything was there that we needed, great balcony overlooking the tennis courts and pool and the view of a great sunrise... The beach is merely a 5 minutes walk and the pier was lovely. There is a train going by few times in the morning (commuter) - but after awhile, you don't even hear it anymore. We enjoyed eating at the Lighthouse. We spent a good deal of time in San Diego at the Gaslamp area, Croce's restaurant, a day at the zoo and a MUST is to go to Seaport Village. It has great shops, restaurants, and it is right on the water with great walking areas. We live in Las Vegas so leaving 108-109 degrees to a heavenly 72 everyday was a dream. We had so much energy with this great weather....I would definitely go back to Oceanside or try Mission Viejo next time...
Thanks to the great staff - Chuck the concierge was always very helpful and we enjoyed the polite, helpful staff.
