What travel tips or favorite directions do you have for Big Bear? Title your reply "Travel Tips - Big Bear", or "Directions - Big Bear" and they will be easy to separate and find.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get to Big Bear from the Sacramento area? Mapquest shows going down and taking 58 to 395 to 18 into Big Bear. My Google Maps on my Iphone show to take 58 all the way to Barstow to 247 to 18.
Before we have always gone to my son's first in Lancaster, so we took 138 over to 18, but that is a longer way I believe.
Anyone got good suggestion on either 395 or 247? There will be 3 cars of us traveling together next month. Thanks!!!
