Coral Baja is a great place to vacation with children. Tell us what you found to do at the resort and in the area with your little ones.

Car seats? - 08/08/11 11:46 PM

Hi! I am new to this forum. My family will be taking a trip to Cabo this coming Oct 2011. We have a 5 year old and an 15 month old with us. I would just like to ask if somebody knows of the car seat laws in Mexico? We are still not sure if we will be renting a car or not but would like to know the rules if ever we did it. Also, I saw somebody post in a shuttle from the airport, how much does that cost this year if somebody has ever utilized it currently? Thank you in advance for your replies. =)

Jet ski, snorkelling, swimming by the beach & pool and horseback riding are some of the stuff we did with our 5 year old son. He also watched us from the boat do our first parasailing. One thing we weren't able to do was the Buccaneer Queen sunset cruise. From the descriptions, it seemed like our son would have enjoyed it too. But then they were doing some maintenance on the ship and is not available until Nov. 2011.

With two small children, I think you'll be much happier if you rent a car. Trying to manage public transportation with both of them will be a considerable hassle, more than I would want at any rate. When you consider the cost of getting to the resort from the airport and getting back to the airport, renting a car really doesn't add much to the total--provided you rent from the U.S. and have the car reserved before going.

We like renting from AVIS because they include the requirred Mexican 3rd party liability (which is about $10.00 a day if you are comparing costs from another company) in the quote. Avis will also accept the insurance your credit card company provides on the car itself (BUT CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO MAKE SURE YOUR CARD DOES, INDEED, COVER THE VEHICLE IF YOU RENT IN MEXICO). We've rented compacts for about $150.00 for the week, sometimes less.

Our first time going will be in early June. We have 2 boys 8 and 6 years old. Other than the usual pool and beach, what else can they do at Coral Baja? I see this pirate tour which has very good reviews:

What about resort activities?
