We hiked in Snow Canyon state park and Zion National park. We did the Parade of Homes in February, and drove to Bryce Canyon National Park. North rim of the Grand Canyon is about a 3 hour drive also.

The old-town area of St. George has a number of points of historical interest. Next to the original temple is a wonderful park that includes a splash pad and a lazy river gentle enough for even very small children to play. Covered seating is strategically placed along the meandering stream to give families a "home base" and place to get out of the sun while enjoying the park. We spent a very relaxing day there while our kids played happily!

In April of 2018, my family and I stayed a week at St. George, and we loved it! We visited Zions National Park, and it was beautiful. A little further drive is Bryce Canyon, which was our favorite. It was an amazing place, lots of photo opportunities and hiking trails into the canyon.
Closer to the condo (2 miles from the resort), we recommend Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. It is an indoor public swimming pool, that is amazing. The facility has a lap pool, and then a very large pool with many aquatic toys, a huge slide and other fun things for kids. Just a mile from the resort is Thunder Junction Park, which is very nice, and very large. The place is very well maintained. It has slides, a music area, garden, train, caves, water features and other things.
Overall, we loved St. George, and are looking forward to visit again in the future.

Besides checking out Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, do not overlook Red Cliffs Desert Preserve. There is a visitor center in town and they will give you information on the desert garden, as well as the many hikes in the preserve.
http://www.redcliffsdesertreserve.com/ If it has been a wet/snowy winter, you may see waterfalls on the spillway of the Gunlock Reservoir, located a few miles west of St. George.
