We went to Deer Harbor in February. We were going by ourselves, but another couple joined us. So, it was four of us in a one bedroom. They stayed on the pull-out couch. It is a very small unit. But!!!!! We had a terrific time. Hot tub on the deck, a big rec room with pool table. Weight room was great. The staff was marvelous, so helpful with what to do. We took drives every day and did several hikes. The weather was not great (that's why it is low season!), but we had a wonderful time anyway. It is a fun location, right next to the water, so a fun view of the bay. We had a great time and would love to go back -- maybe in high season, ha! I would definitely recommend this WM.

Trying to decide between the 1 bedroom cottage or the hillside suite. Very hard to tell the differences.
The Hillside suites require more credits, seem to share a wall with adjacent units, may have better views??, are on a busy road??, have more steps than other units?? - what else?
The 1 bed cottage have poorer views??, fewer stairs, are standalone units, fewer credits to rent - what else?
ANy suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Questions - Deer Harbor comparing to Discovery Bay - 05/28/20 03:08 PM

Hi There,

I would like to visit to either Deer Harbor (cabins like) or Discovery Bay (townhouse like?) during summer in late July or August.

Hope other members can share their experience between these 2 resorts.

For Deer Harbour, I understand that there are 11 studio deluxe units out of 16 units in total and the studio units have the better chance of getting direct water view, right?
Having your own private hot tub in your unit @ Deer Harbour must be great!

For Discovery Bay, how is the indoor hot tub and swimming pool? Just not a big fan of a hot tub indoor...

For either resorts, any oceanview directly from your unit? If not, how easy is it to find a good open common area on the resort to relax with some oceanview? Is it windy like Seaside? Just a long sleeve t-shirt during the day? How easy or difficult to plan the ferry?
How new and updated are the furniture and kitchen? Stone counter top or laminate?

Thank You in advance.

If you like some insight info on Vancouver-DT or Whistler resorts, feel free to email them.

In regards to Deer Harbor units location, we have visited several times. The smallest units are the cottage and cottage suites and are labeled as "Historical". on the site map. These were suitable for 2. They have hot tubs on deck also. We stayed at the one uphill across from checkin. The BBQ area is next to the checkin building and a short walk from most units. The Hillside suites are up on the hill in the back of property, I've never been in one. The Studio Deluxe suites numbered 101-111 on the site map and are right along the hillside and marina but some have better views than others. There is no road noise at this location. As to the ferry, check your days for arrival and departure and make an advance reservation. We took the Anacortes -Orcas route then traveled to Friday Harbor/Victoria,BC (one sailing per day) then back to Anacortes on our trip.
