Pinetop Resort Review

Have you stayed at Pinetop? Here's your chance to tell other owners what it's really like. How big is the pool? How hot is the hot tub? What do you wish you had known before you left home.

Having just left Pinetop, I would like to say that the resort itself definitely measures up to World Mark standards. My three bedroom was quite nice; however, as there is no A/C, I would advise that they add ceiling fans to ALL bedrooms. The office staff was quite friendly but I would consider updating the DVD collection. Lastly, my daughters (in their 20's) are city girls and although they liked the resort, the lack of shopping and nightlife in the area forced me to cut my vacation short and return to the Scottsdale area to keep peace in the family. (Maybe World Mark would consider building in the Scottsdale area???) The most beautiful drive there is through Globe on Hwy 60 from Phoenix - unbelievable canyon known as the "Little Grand Canyon." Looking for canyon artwork now in Scottsdale as I found no art stores in Pinetop.

We stayed at the resort 4/26-4/29 2012 and stayed in the 2 bedroom special needs room.

We arrived around 4pm, the front desk was very friendly and courteous. We were directed to a few activities to do around town. The room was clean.

The resort has a game room with a jukebox in it, the rec room is right next to the pool, kiddie pool, and Jacuzzi. It wasn't busy at all for our entire stay, there was a problem, with the pool being littered with a lot of flying bugs in the morning, as soon as the front desk was notified it was cleaned right away.

There is a close by Safeway grocery store and a few restaurants, its a small town, so don't expect big city livin' here. It is a small quiet town, which is what we needed.

We just returned from a 2 night stay at Pinetop and had a great time. We arrived really late, at 9pm, and checked in within 5 minutes. No hassle about a sales presentation, just got the key cards and directions to our unit and off we went. The unit itself was perfect. We had a 2 bedroom unit. The unit was clean and spacious. The pillows were great, it had a large deck with a grill and beautiful view of forest with snow. So pretty! There were even huge icicles hanging from the eaves, which the kids loved. The unit also had a fireplace which was very cozy. Murphy bed was comfy also. We didn't cook but the kitchen was very nice and spacious. Had a large island with 2 barstools, 6 person kitchen table also.

This is a great place to unplug, in the summer or winter! We took our kids skiing for the first time, but we could have had just as much fun sledding on the property or hiking around with snowshoes or building snowmen. In summer, there are a lot of lakes around and you can fish, go mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, it's just a wonderful place to be. We are coming back!!

We stayed at Pinetop 3/16/13 thru 3/19/13. Pinetop is definitely a place to stay if you want to relax. All balconies face the woods. We saw deer while sitting on balcony. I believe all balconies have gas grills on them. There activity center just re-opened after a remodel. In the acivity center they have a fitness center, 2 pool tables, 1 ping pong table, 1 air hockey table. It also has a juke box, vending machines and about 6 video machines. Right outside of the activity center is a basketball court, tennis court, a child's playground, a jacuzzi, and a pool. Pool not opened until April. They also have another jacuzzi that is covered at one end of the parking lot. The office has coffee, lends out games, rents DVD's and has information on things to do in the area. We took 2 short hikes. One went around a lake and the other went through a forest with some beautiful views. We also went to a casino about 4 miles away. We also visited Fort Apache about 20 miles away. We are going back to Pinetop at the end of April 2013. No air conditioning but you are in the mountains. The rooms are spacious. Have a great time there.

This resort has the potential to be relaxing, but the insulation must not be too great. We stayed there on 9-6-8, 2013 in a 2 bdrm, King/twin.

While trying to work on an online assignment the neighbors adjacent and upstairs from us were talking on the porch the whole time & it sounded like a low drum beat inside our resort - it was quite distracting.

The furniture was HORRIBLY uncomfortable - I sat on the floor with my back to the chair or couch while working on my laptop, because that was more comfortable than the furniture itself.

In addition, I am used to soft, comfy beds at the WorldMark resorts. Not so here. If you like the rock hard board type beds - you'll be good to go - otherwise I would not recommend this resort. I was quite disappointed - in all the WorldMark resorts I have stayed in (about 5) this is the only one I have anything negative to comment about.

The staff also wasn't as friendly as I have grown accustomed to staying with WorldMark Properties :-(

Visited Pinetop on Dec 7and 8, wow what a beautiful resort. It was cold and snowing, being from Southern California, we were worried about digging out. We had about 4" of new snow overnight. Little did we know that the resort staff has snow blowers and were busy in the morning clearing the sidewalks and driveways. Thank you. The one bedroom was larger than a normal WM unit. The staff was great and had many answers to our questions and plenty of suggestions for meals. We would recommend this resort.

Never AGAIN!!!!! This resort is beautiful very friendly staff great scenery, but there is no AIR CONDITIONING in the units. My family and I visited from June 26 to June 29th and it was just plain awful to stay in the units for one second. We were there to go fishing so we were out most of the day. But, on returning to the unit for a biote to eat or to just relax after a long day out in nature we (I) wanted to relax in a cool room. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN HERE!!!! and the pool water was hot not cool so how does one cool off at the pool when the pool water is as hot as the ambient temperature? Needless to say I will NEVER visit this resort in the summer months. Give it a -10 out of a possible 5 rating.

Go to Bison they have air conditioning. Pinetop is great for winter months not for summer. It is hot and no air conditioning. Very friendly staff and plenty to do during the day and evenings. NO AIRCONDITIONING!!!

We are currently staying at Plnetop. Yes, there is no air conditioning. We don't come here to sit in the units all day. We hike the many trails, go to the casino, sight see, and swim. The pool is refreshing and no it is not hot as described in another post. The staff, especially Chelsee and Gioia, are in the top tier of Worldmark Staff. They went out of there way to make our stay very pleasant. I love air condioning, but this resort is not unbearable as described. It is beautifully nestled in 100 foot pines, the grounds are loaded with squirrels that eat out of your hand, bluejays, woodpeckers and many other species of birds. This is our 4th stay here. I miss air conditioning, but the beautty of the White Mountains is worth it. We will be back many more times.

Pagosa Springs, Steamboat Springs, Kehei, Valley Isle, all 3 San Diego's, Oceanside, Anaheim, Dolphin Cove, Solvang, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Indio, Phoenix, Rancho Vistoso, Bison Ranch, Pinetop, Red River, Taos, Grand Lake, Branson, Lake of the Ozarks, Daytona Beach-Oceanwalk,The Camlin, Birch Bay, Coral Baja and Rosirito.

We visited the Pinetop resort over our fall break. It was nice to get to some cooler weather. It was quite a drive coming from Southern Utah, but it was worth the drive.

The resort is laid out similar to the Big Bear, California resort. (My family enjoyed the Big Bear resort last year at the same time.) We were in building 14, at the end of the resort, which was near a hot tub that was very rarely used. My family enjoyed a lot of time in the hot tub without seeing another soul. During the entire stay, we only shared it with 3 other people. The pool was heated and warm--getting out was hard because of the cool weather. Our young daughter enjoyed the pool a lot. There were a few activities on site, which was nice. We attended a welcome meeting and ate doughnuts and chocolate milk. There was not one pitch about buying more credits, which was very refreshing.

The units were nice, and also laid out like Big Bear. It is true that there is no air conditioning, but with the cooler weather and ceiling fans, the rooms were great. The night we arrived, it was about 40 degrees at night, which was PLENTY cool. (We chose to visit in the fall because of no air conditioning, and it was perfect.) A HUGE round of applause for the maintainence and the front desk. Both departments were in charge of removing our faulty refrigerator from our UPSTAIRS unit and then bringing in a new fridge. (Ours was burning up for some reason.) I have never toted a fridge up stairs before, but I am sure that it wasn't very fun. So huge round of applause for the crew at Pinetop!

We went on hikes, drove to some ruins on the reservation, and just enjoyed being in the beautiful nature that was offered to us there. Two thumbs up from our family for this resort. The trick is going at the right time of year so that no air conditioning is not a problem.

First off, I will say we love Pinetop. We live in Phoenix and it is a nice short getaway. Been coming for years. The surroundings are beautiful, ski resort not far away,lots of hikes and nice parks around. The last two times we have been here have had some issues with the housekeeping and staff. We are actually here now, and our unit is not clean. I have found stuff left over from the people who stayed here before us, and it makes me feel like the unit is not really clean. I will be letting management know tomorrow. And the last time we were here we waited over an hour for our room to be ready when it was actually ready all along. The front desk said housekeeping was not responding to him but I think there was more to it than that. Anyway, as a resort overall we love Pinetop.

[i]Hello [u]WorldMark Owners[/u], I have a simple question that I hope we can get some help on. We are traveling to Pinetop Arizona from the Los Angeles Ca. area and would like to get some input on the best route to take. It looks like there are at least 3 main routes that will lead us out there but as we have never driven out that way, much less visited Arizona we would'nt know the best route to take. My wife doesn't fare well with high mountain switchback roads so were hoping to find something not as undulating as those type of roads. For example when we travel to Big Bear Ca. we usually take the back road which will add another 20 min of drive time but far more relaxing & easier on the wife and still offers a very scenic drive for the whole family.
So please if you have any suggestions we would be most grateful for that!
