Have you stayed at WorldMark St. Thomas - Elysian Beach Resort? Here's your chance to tell other owners what it's really like. How big is the pool? How hot is the hot tub? What do you wish you had known before you left home?

This island rises out of the water and then keeps rising up! The only flat area on this island seemed to be the airport and downtown Charlotte Amalee!

We stayed in a studio parlor room that had a view of the bay. It was located near the entry gate of the resort at the top of an amphitheater shape of the resort grounds. Imagine stair steps and then imagine each of several buildings of the resort located one on each stair step going up the slope of the amphitheater. If I remember correctly we walked up or down about 65 steps to go to the beach or back to our room (remember we were located in the building at the top). We had our exercise in by the time our stay ended. When you head down to the beach take note and bring everything with you the first time! The grounds were beautiful in March of 2015 and looking for lizards, geckos and iguanas (whichever they were) helped to make the stair trek eventful.

The restaurants are located beachside (at the bottom of the shape). We enjoyed drinks at the outdoor bar. The food at the outdoor resort restaurant was great and the employees friendly. We enjoyed the indoor bar and the indoor resort restaurant had good food. I wanted a room with a kitchen and we were able to get one. But....we never made it to a grocery store to purchase food to cook because we needed a taxi to get there and my other half wasn't interested so we ate out. If you plan to cook in your room purchase the food on the way if you don't want to pay for too many taxi rides.

The pool was clear when we stayed. We used the hot tub one night. It was not as clear as it should have been. The resort beach is clean and includes chairs. An activity booth has snorkeling gear and beach game supplies. We did not notice any type of bugs in March.

The laundry is at the bottom of the steps also. Don't forget anything if you use it or you will be going back up the stairs again.

The employees were friendly at all levels no matter what their task.

We would return again if we were not located across the country. It was slightly more expensive on the island. We suppose because of the freight costs to get items there.

We stayed here in Nov. of 2013 in a Studio Parlor. I was surprised at the size of the studio parlor! Normally I like at least a 1 bedroom place---usually a 2 bedroom for the larger living space, but this studio parlor was like have a large living space in the day and a large bedroom at night when the murphy bed was folded down. The kitchen was full size (including a dishwasher), unlike the ones in the 2 bed and king bed units which have a small fridge and microwave, but no oven or stove. It's also considerably larger then the 2 bed and king bed units. The 2 bed room is on one side of the parlor and the king is on the other, so it is possible to rent a parlor and either/or both of the other units and they will try to give you connecting units so you can open the connecting doors and have a 1 or 2 bedroom unit. The only problem with that is I assume they will charge you the $22/day fee for each room. The table in the studio parlor is round and sits 4 easily. There are table settings for 4 and lots of cooking utensils. The murphy bed is unique in that is folds down over the couch so there's lots of room and it's very comfortable. The ac unit is on the wall across from the head of the bed and keeps the whole room nice and cool. The large patio juts out past the units on either side of the parlors (they have patios, too, but the rooms aren't as deep as the parlors. We had a 1st floor level at the top of the hill which didn't have much of a view, but we weren't there much anyway. We did drive down to the beach and pool--plenty of parking spots down there. The bathroom/changing room had a safe in it, but they didn't have a master key for it and it was locked. The closet and vanity/sink were separate from the toilette and shower room. No tub, but the shower was quite large. I would gladly stay there again! Only thing missing was a washer and drier!
I'll include a link to my blog in case anyone is interested in pictures:

PS---just a note---the pictures of the units in the Worldmark site are of the studio loft which is like the parlor, but with a spiral stairway to a lofted bedroom. The regular studio parlors do not have the lofted ceilings, therefore I doubt any of them are on the top floor.

We just returned from the Elysian - what a beautiful resort!! Such a pleasant surprise - so glad we have this in our system!!

We had a peek of the ocean from our 1st story room - but what a peek!! We could see the sailboats in the bay in front of us - could see beautiful sunrises from the east each morning. The beach there is stunning - crystal clear warm blue water - the beach complete with an activity hut that rents our water activities and where we booked the most fantasitc excursion (more later)... we even saw a sting ray swimming!! The bay is filled with beautiful sailboats, palm trees on the beach... one thing is to be sure and get your bug spray from the activity hut and use it!! They say there are "no seeums" in the sand there and lots of mosquitos at dusk (keep your sliding door shut!!)

We took a fantastic Cruise for about $120 - The Breakaway - that took us to several British Virgin Islands, visited The Baths, fantastic lunch, snorkeling, swim to island with the "Soggy Dollar Bar" Fantastic experience.

There are 2 restaurants on property - one casual and one nicer restaurant. Both with beautiful ocean views.

The Ritz Carlton is right next door so we walked over for an elegant outdoor breakfast there and just walked the grounds..... We are very close to Red Hook and the ferries to St John. Sapphire Beach is also beautiful!! Visit Coral World also.. So much to do!!!

The food store is close but it is very difficult to find the resort. AT&T cell phones work there without extra charges so I suggest you call ahead for directions (there ae NO signs) Driving is on the left side of the road. We rented a jeep which cost a little extra but so glad we did - loved the convertible top and needed the jeep's power when exploring the hills of St Thomas (stunning views up there...) Budget car rentals was the only rental place where we could find the convertilbe jeeps.

We already have reservations for next Feb again!!
